6. Key messages

The BCSP should promote and share messaging routinely around its priority areas for 2025 to 2029. These are:

  • anti-social behaviour
  • serious violence
  • domestic abuse
  • community reassurance

The Community Safety Survey, which runs annually, tell us that while residents on the whole feel safe in Bexley, there are key areas which they are concerned about. These will also be priority areas for delivery key messaging throughout the year. In 2024, this included:

  • vehicle crime
  • burglary
  • drug misuse issues
  • littering and drug paraphernalia
  • young people’s feelings

The BCSP should also adopt a ‘you said, we did’ approach. This enables residents to feel valued in their feedback. When our community shares their concerns and we act, we know that we can increase the impact of this by making it more visible.

The BCSP is committed to sharing more good news stories. While sharing high-risk and high-harm areas is important awareness, we know that this is often better received when we can show successful repercussions and response to such crimes and abuses.
