14. Social media moderation
The BCSP and individual partners welcome interactions on our social media pages. We understand people have differing views on many issues and that community safety is an area many people feel passionately about.
We are committed to ensuring that BCSP accounts maintain a positive environment, which enables free expression, but does not tolerate discriminatory, abusive or threatening engagement on social media channels. Staff will monitor the BCSP accounts as much as resource allows.
We reserve the right to remove or hide comments which contain the following on our social media platforms:
- sexually inappropriate references or imagery
- language that is aggressive or threatening or contains swear words
- language which could be construed as bullying, racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-religious, anti-disability, or any form of abuse towards a particular person or group
- posts advocating for or inciting extremism or violence
- misinformation or fake news
- comments that are not related to the post content
- comments that contain links to unverified sources
- comments that signpost to unverified services and organisations
- spam advertising posts
- public posts that mention staff by name or make derogatory comments or accusations against individuals
- breached to the privacy of another individual by including their personal information or details
Inappropriate content will be hidden or removed, and users may be warned, suspended, or blocked depending on the severity of the violation of this policy.
We reserve the right to, and will, report any interactions which are considered hate speech or hate crime, which incite crime or abuse, or which disclose that any crime or abuse has taken place. We will do this under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, for the prevention and detection of crime. This will be reported to both the police and to the platform itself.
Users and followers may also report inappropriate content to the platform using their reporting tools. They may also report this to us by direct message to the BCSP accounts.
BCSP Partners may have their own Communications Policy which direct how they will respond to such matters.
