10. Monitoring and evaluation

Monitoring the impact of this Communications Plan is essential to understanding the effectiveness of this Plan.

Partners are encouraged to do this of their individual accounts and share learning and best practice with other BCSP partners.

The BCSP can do this by collecting statistics and undertaking an assessment of number of engagements – likes, shares, comments, mentions, clicks on social media; attendance numbers at events; changes in reporting habits. This can be measured for our below campaigns, recognising the limited resource to do this for every communication and the priority that the campaign should take.

The BCSP understands, however, that data is not always reflective of impact. To ensure this impact is positive, we will assess the changes to public feelings and perception, by way of the Community Safety Survey and other community engagement. The Board will then consider if any changes or alternative actions are required to improve our community reassurance.
