Our young people may come with little or no knowledge of how to live independently and may need a lot of support initially. What is important is that you are able to give the person in your care the confidence to become self-sufficient.

Most people who leave home have had family support to help them learn how to live independently, our young people have not all had this same level of guidance.

Young people who need a Host and Support provider are looking for someone who can give some of their time to help them learn and understand how to live on their own, someone who can show them how to do important life skills like:

• budgeting
• cooking
• cleaning
• filling in important forms
• food shopping
