Bexley fostering team with participants at the Parkrun event at Danson Park
The Bexley fostering team joined the event to raise awareness of fostering in the borough

Bexley Fostering celebrated the spirit of community at Bexley Parkrun on Saturday 27 September, uniting the joy of running with an important message that every child deserves a safe, supportive, and loving home.

Taking place every Saturday at Danson Park, Bexley Parkrun brings together hundreds of runners, joggers, and walkers. This weekend, Bexley Fostering joined the event to raise awareness of fostering in the borough, celebrate the life-changing role foster carers play, and encourage more local people to consider opening their homes and hearts.

One of the Parkrun organisers shared:

Parkrun is about more than running – it’s about connection, inclusivity, and supporting each other. We’re delighted to partner with Bexley Fostering to shine a light on the difference fostering makes, and we encourage everyone to stop by, chat, and see how they might be able to help."

Bexley Fostering extends a heartfelt thank you to the organisers and volunteers at Bexley Parkrun, as well as to foster carers, their families, and the children who joined on the day. Their energy, kindness, and community spirit made the event truly special. Together, the community is showing how collective support can create brighter futures for children and young people in Bexley.

The partnership with Parkrun was also a fitting finale to Bexley Fostering Week, a week dedicated to celebrating foster carers and encouraging more local people to consider fostering. Across the week, events and activities highlighted the vital difference carers make every day, while offering practical advice for anyone interested in starting their fostering journey.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, now is the perfect time to take the first step.
