They were invited by Lord Watson of Invergowrie to the Cholmondeley Room in the House of Lords, a beautiful wood‑panelled and red‑carpeted space with a marquee overlooking the River Thames.
The event brought together around 100 foster carers and social workers from across the UK, all united in their dedication to children in care.
Each speaker shared positive, heartfelt messages recognising the vital work foster carers do every day. They also spoke about the rollout of the new Foundations Fostering Practice Guide, and Lord Watson announced that the government has committed £12.4 million to modernising foster care and increasing the number of foster homes, a powerful step forward for children in care.
After the speeches, our carers had the chance to network, connect with others, and view incredible poems and artwork created by children in care as part of The Fostering Network’s recent competition. Jemal and Jim shared how much they enjoyed the experience, being surrounded by so many people who share the same passion made them feel recognised, heard, and truly listened to.
We are incredibly proud of our Bexley foster carers and grateful for the dedication they show every single day. If you are interested in becoming a foster carer with Bexley, visit Foster for Bexley or give us a call on 020 3045 4400.
