children visiting the cinema
Foster families came together on 8 April as Fostering Together hosted a trip to the cinema screening of The Magic Faraway Tree at Cineworld Bexley

The trip was kindly paid for by Core Carers from Fostering Together, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to creating inclusive, meaningful experiences for foster families.

Holly, a core carer from Fostering Together said:

It was such a lovely day. Watching the children laugh together and seeing carers build connections made the whole event feel like one big family. Moments like this remind us that fostering isn’t just about providing care; it’s about creating a strong, supportive community.”

The cinema trip is one of many activities organised by Fostering Together to create safe, inclusive and joyful opportunities for foster families to spend time together. These shared experiences help children build friendships and strengthen support networks, making transitions such as respite care more natural and reassuring, as many children already know one another from these events.

Each Fostering Together community is made up of around six to eight fostering families, forming a close‑knit network of mutual support.

At the heart of each community is a Core Carer, an experienced foster carer who provides leadership, guidance and peer support. Core Carers coordinate social activities and sleepovers, often going above and beyond by investing their own time and resources to help families build strong relationships and feel part of a wider community.

For those who work and are wondering how fostering could fit into their lifestyle, Fostering Together offers a flexible, supportive way to foster with Bexley, ensuring carers are never on their own and children feel valued, connected and supported.
