Foster carers come together to receive certificates to mark the end of 16 weeks of learning, reflection and peer support.
The KEEP programme is designed to help foster carers develop practical strategies for managing challenging behaviour in teenagers and pre-teens. Through weekly sessions, carers gain valuable tools and techniques while benefiting from a supportive environment where they can reflect on their experiences and learn from one another.
The positive impact of the programme was reflected in the feedback from carers who took part.
Jodie, Foster Carer, said:
I can honestly say it has been one of the most enriching and supportive experiences I have come across so far in our fostering journey."
Tracy, a foster carer who completed the programme, added:
I found the KEEP programme to be very supportive, and I enjoyed bonding with other carers as part of a group. It was a great way to recap my knowledge from previous training, and I valued the opportunity to have healthy discussions and share experiences. We should all be practising KEEP."
The programme encourages carers to build confidence in their role, strengthen relationships with the children and young people they care for, and develop effective approaches to supporting them through challenges.
The certificate presentation provided an opportunity for carers to come together, celebrate their achievements and reflect on the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout the course.
The latest cohort's completion of the programme highlights the ongoing commitment of foster carers to developing their skills and sharing best practice, ultimately helping to create positive outcomes for children in care.
